"Parasites in marine food webs"
Abstract: Food webs have shaped how ecologists view marine systems. Lurking in those food webs have been parasites. Parasites can affect food webs in a few different ways. Most notably, they can dominate food web links, altering complexity and other structural components of the web. Secondly, they can alter predator-prey interactions, and lead to indirect effects that propagate up and down food changes. Finally, food webs affect parasites. Food webs are therefore incomplete without parasites and parasite ecology is incomplete without food webs. Photos of marine creatures and their parasites will be shown.
